IBTM Newsletter, 8 March 2023

Good afternoon from Edinburgh!

This past weekend I flew to London, staying with old friends Malcolm and Penny Cox. Saturday was a full day of Old Testament teaching (8 classes) with AIM-UK/Ireland. Andy Boakye (Manchester), Malcolm, and I love teaching together, and had a grand time!

On Sunday I preached in Watford (just north of London), on The Lord’s Prayer. The inspiration came from a chapter in the recent release Amen: Collected Prayers and Hymns for the Journey. Penny also made a golden suggestion—more on that near the end of this newsletter.I expected to fly home that afternoon and speak for our regular Sunday evening group. Imagine my bafflement when I couldn’t check in for the British Airways flight. I’d booked tickets for 3 Mar-5 Mar—or so I thought. Actually, the tickets were for 3 Mar-5 May. I was two months early! Since there were no free seats on the plane, this meant 7 hours at the airport (a least there’s internet) and giving the lesson (discreetly) from the airport lounge.

To err is human, and even though an experienced traveler, I’m apparently very human. Enough said about my fallibility. In today’s newsletter:

  • Women of Worth — my wife’s podcast launches today.
  • Science & Faith — video now available.
  • Israel — the draw for a free tour.
  • Abuse — an article relevant to churches and church leaders.

Women of Worth

Vicki’s podcast went live this morning. Women of Worth isn’t only a fresh look at scores of interesting biblical characters, but also a source of inspiration for daily Christian living. Today’s launch coincides with International Women’s Day.

Science & Faith video now available

Video of the recent seminar Science & Faith: Enemies or Allies? (25 Feb) is now available. The 3 classes include the (embedded) PowerPoint.

Thanks to Bob Moseley (Edinburgh) for editing / combining over 2 hours of footage and slides. Click HERE for the free video.

Safeguarding against Abuse

As mentioned earlier, that Dr. Penny Cox (London) made an excellent suggestion. The week before I preached in Watford, their Sunday service theme was “Safeguarding.” Penny recommended an article on spiritual abuse. Check it out—click here.

Until next week…

This evening I’m doing an evidences presentation (by Zoom) for Zagreb, Croatia. Pray that I may speak clearly and effectively—and energetically. I’m getting over COVID—clear for a week now, but definitely feeling the residual fatigue. Thanks for your support.
