Is it okay for me to consume alcohol while I'm pregnant? I am not a big drinker. This would be just a couple of glasses of wine now and again.

Your question reminds me of one I put to my mother 20 years ago. I asked her if she ever drank wine when she was pregnant with me. She answered, "Wine? Heck, I had cocktails." To which I replied, "Mom! I could have turned out better!" Then she added, "We didn't know any better back then [the late '50s]."

Well, apparently it does matter. I recently came across an article that speaks to this matter, "Drinking during pregnancy changes baby's brain structure" (November 22, 2022, Radiological Society of North America).

Summary: A new MRI study revealed that consumption of alcohol even in low to moderate amounts during pregnancy can change the baby's brain structure and delay brain development. See the full article HERE. (Image credit: © Arkadi Bojarsinov / 123RF.com)
