I once heard, in a biblical lecture, that the place where Abraham “sacrificed” Isaac is possibly the same general area where the crucifixion took place. Is there any textual or archeological evidence to support this? -- Kevin Anderton (Memphis)
Well, of course there is no archaeological evidence! (The altar? The ram's skeleton?) But there is indeed textual evidence. Compare 2 Chronicles 3:1 with Genesis 22 and you will see we are talking about the area near Jerusalem. For more, see my paper on The Red Heifer Sacrifice (at this website).
