Two of my friends, Christians, decided to marry in a different way than we practice in our churches: i.e. without a person, an evangelist or a preacher, who marry them. In the light of the Bible, what do you think about it? -- Laura

As long as they were legally married, this is fine in principle. (Legally means the paperwork has been properly filled out, documents signed, fees paid, in accordance with the law of the state or nation in which they live.) I do think people are probably missing out by not having a church wedding, but then there seems to be no such thing as a "church wedding" in the New Testament!
