[Greatly condensed] I would like to know everything possible about baptism. Can you point me in the right direction?

I am glad you want to know everything about baptism. I really want to help you. The best way apart from your own reading of the Bible is your own willingness to do extra study. I think if you work at it you will find all the answers you seek.

I want to recommend five books for you to read. They will give you all the answers you seek! The first is Rex Geissler Born of Water (Great Commission Illustrated). I think you will really like it! The next which has lots of material on conversion and baptism is my Till the Nets Are Full (formerly Shining Like Stars). Then take a look at F. LaGard Smith s Baptism: The Believer s Wedding Ceremony. And other interesting work is John Mark Hicks and Greg Taylor Down in the River to Pray. The last work -- and it is a bit more technical -- is George Beasley-Murray's Baptism in the New Testament.

These books will help you not only answer your own questions but also help your friends.
