Oct 20 Sun     Arrive Ankara Airport (ESB)
Our tour guide will meet us at Ankara Airport. Meet and transfer to our hotel in Ankara for orientation / dinner.

Oct 21 Mon      Ankara—Hattusas—Yozgat
Our tour begins at the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. After stopping to see the Roman remains of the Temple of Augustus, drive to visit Hattusha, capital of the ancient Hittite Empire, often referred to in the Old Testament. Overnight in Yozgat.

Oct 22 Tue       Yozgat—Cappadocia
After breakfast, drive to Cappadocia. After sightseeing in Cappadocia, we visit Göreme, where we'll see the remains of hundreds of early churches—with rooms hollowed out from the cones of volcanic ash. Some are decorated with carved frescoes depicting scenes from the Bible. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Cappadocia.

Oct 23 Wed      Cappadocia—Underground churches—Balloon ride
Optional hot air balloon ride in the early morning. We'll drive through the Zelve Valley on our way to Kaymakli, an underground city which was an early Christian center extending down into the ground for at least eight floors and housing several thousand people in the 8th and 9th centuries. Continue to Uçhisar, another of these early Christian communities, before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Oct 24 Thu       Cappadocia—Karatepe—Antioch
Drive through the heart of the Hittite Empire. Visit the Karatepe Archaeology Museum. Then arrive at Antioch, checking in to our amazing hotel.

Oct 25 Fri          Tell Tayinat—Archaeology Museum—Antioch
This morning, we visit Tell Tayinat, then drive to Antioch's Mosaic Museum—housing an unusually rich collection of mosaics from this area. We will also explore the extensive archaeological ruins immediately underneath our hotel! Dinner and overnight at the Museum Hotel in Antakya.

Oct 26 Sat          Antioch—Seleucia—Antioch
Short visit to the grotto Church of St. Peter where Jesus followers were first called Christians (Acts 11:26). Drive to Seleucia Pieria, the port town from which Paul and Barnabas departed and returned on their first journey (Acts 13:4). There we will see the Titus, one of Rome’s engineering wonders. If time allows, we will visit the monastery complex of the remarkable ascetic Simon Stylites. Dinner and overnight at the Museum Hotel.

Oct 27 Sun        Antioch—Zeugma—Carchemis—Gaziantep
Early morning departure to Zeugma, followed by a visit to Carchemish (Jer 46:2). We will also visit the new Gazintep Mosaic Museum, ranked the number 1 mosaic museum in the world. Dinner and overnight in Gaziantep.

Oct 28 Mon       Harran—Gobeklitepe—Urfa
Drive to Harran (Edessa) and see its wall, mosque, caravanserai (the oldest university of the world), Jacob’s well, and beehive houses. Then visit the Göbekli Tepe temples, dated to c.10,000 BC. Late afternoon visit to the traditional birth Cave of Abraham. Dinner and overnight in Sanliurfa.

Oct 29 Tue        Transfer to Urfa Airport—Fly home
