My question comes from Matthew 24:35: "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." Can you explain the meaning of that passage? Will heaven really pass away? -- Megan Le Blanc (Los Angeles)

Heaven may refer to the sky, space, or the abode of God. Of course in the last sense of the word, no, heaven will never pass away. But normally the phrase "the heavens and the earth" or "heaven and earth" refers to the cosmos God created in Genesis 1. Bible readers must distinguish which sense is intended.
