Today we pray for Benin, a small West African nation with Nigeria on its east, Togo to its west, and Niger and Burkina Faso to the north. 7 million persons, divided into 58 ethnic groups, live in this French-speaking nation. Independence from France came in 1960. The capital is Porto-Novo (265,000).

Benin is a poor nation. Average annual per capita income is a little more than US$300. Fortunately, there is religious freedom in Benin. 32% claim to be Christian, 20% Muslim, and 48% adhere to the traditional ethnic religions. Prayer needs include the scourge of governmental corruption and the plight of the unreached tribes (the Fon, Gbe, Nagot, Idacca, and Ife).
